Dentoalveolar Surgery

&

Implants

Dentoalveolar surgery describes surgery of the jaws and especially involves the tooth bearing areas of the upper (maxilla) and lower jaw (mandible). The tissues that make up the jaws and teeth are numerous and this can give rise to abnormalities such as cysts, impacted teeth, chronic or acute infections and soft tissue lesions such as mucocoeles (blocked minor salivary glands), polyps, papillomas and other lumps and bumps.

Much of this surgery can be safely carried out under a local anaesthetic as an out-patient procedure. More complex or difficult scenarios such as deeply impacted wisdom teeth may require a general anaesthetic for their safe removal.

Implants for missing teeth are carried out at the Hartog Dental Practice in Twyford. Here we have the latest cone beam CT scanners and are able to plan where the implant needs to go. We use the highest quality (Nobel BioCare) fully guided system so that all of the hard work is carried out before we place the implant. This helps us to avoid critical structures such as nerves or the sinuses and it helps us to place the implant in the optimal position for prosthetic rehabilitation.

"Guided implant surgery lets us plan and place the implant to within 0.2mm of our predicted position. This gives us a huge advantage in safety, durability, function and final aesthetics"
